Breville Blend Active Review and Recipes

I recently purchased a Breville Blend Active Family Blender and I have been since experimenting with different smoothies and shakes. The best thing about this particular blender is there is no mess because you drink straight from the blender. All you do is switch the blade for a lid. The family set, which is what I got, comes with two 300ml bottles and two 600ml bottles. I thought this set would be handy for me as I have a toddler who hates loud noises! So when he is asleep or not around I can pre-make my smoothies and freeze them to save him the trauma.

These are my top 3 favourite shake and smoothie recipes:

Peanut Butter, banana and chocolate shake

This one really satisfies my sweet cravings and tastes a little bit like a snickers!

smoothies (2 of 3)

Ingredients:

  • 300 ml of skimmed milk (or an unsweetened alternative of your choice)
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1 tbsp of Choc Shot (or add chocolate protein powder to make it more filling)

Mixed berry and kiwi smoothie:

The kiwi in this one really adds something extra to such a classic smoothie choice.

smoothies (1 of 3)

Ingredients:

  • 100 ml of skimmed milk (or an unsweetened alternative of your choice)
  • 100 ml of water
  • 1 tbsp fat free natural yogurt
  • 1 tsp of sweetener
  • 1 ripe banana
  • Handful of frozen mixed berries
  • 1 Kiwi

Ultimate breakfast smoothie

This one tastes so good but is also very nutritious. It contains spinach which is really good for you and it’s the only green I put in my smoothies because you really cannot taste it! The oats in it make it perfect for breakfast because  they keep you fuller for longer.

Ingredients:

  • 150ml water
  • 1 ripe banana
  • Handful of oats
  • 1-2 tbsp fat free natural yogurt
  • 1 cup of frozen mixed berries
  • As much spinach as you want

I hope you enjoyed this post and try out some of the recipes.

Book Review – lostmy.name

lost my name

About a month ago I saw an ad on TV for a personalised book for kids so I looked it up on http://www.lostmy.name and it was so cute I just had to buy it for my son as a Christmas present. It is recommended for ages 2-5 and my son will be almost 1 at Christmas so he is a bit young for it but he will always have it so it makes no difference to me or him when I buy it. I’m sure he’ll enjoy looking at the pictures.

It came packaged in a cardboard envelope so there won’t be any damage during shipping. It is an A4 landscape paperback book and it is published so beautifully! For a self published book, it’s wonderful. I read through it and the story was great, I can’t wait to read it to my son after Christmas.

On the website when you’re ordering it, you have to give them your child’s name and gender. You then pick a little character which most resembles your child. Each letter of their name is represented by an animal and with certain letters you can choose which animal to use, which I loved!

It is a little pricey at €27 including shipping but it was just so cute, I had to get it and I’m really happy I bought it. I would definitely recommend http://www.lostmy.name if you’re looking for a unique, different personalised gift for someone this Christmas.

Bootea Teatox Review

About a month ago I tried the Bootea Teatox. I didn’t like it, at all. I don’t have access to weighing scales but I’m pretty sure I didn’t lose any weight and it just left me feeling horrible for the whole 2 weeks I did it. I wasn’t following the Bootea eating plan but for the most part, in the first week I was eating pretty healthy. The second week wasn’t too good, I had a takeaway and went out drinking one of the nights.

I ended up only drinking 6 out of the 7 nighttime teas because they were affecting me really badly. I had horrible cramps the day after I drank it for the first week and in the second week I had cramps and diarrhea all week. I know it is a laxative and that is to be expected but I think it was a bit too severe and it just didn’t agree with me. The morning tea I think is supposed to energize you and make you feel less hungry but it didn’t do that for me at all. I ended up feeling more tired and even more hungry.

I noticed today that there is a new Bootea eating plan that looks very good (a lot better than the original one) and so I want to try that eating plan over the next few weeks. I won’t be using any more Bootea products but the new eating plan looks like it could work for me. I will be writing a review of the new eating plan once I have completed 2 weeks of it.

My goal is to lose about a stone. When I was 16 I lost almost 6 stone and I have gained a stone since I had Caelum. I still haven’t fully lost all the baby weight and I want to do that before the year is out! The fact that I lost 6 stone before just makes me even more determined to lose weight. I don’t want all that work to go to waste!
